The effect of daily ingestion of caffeine on the microsomal enzymes of rat liver.

چکیده
The effect of repeated ingestion of caffeine on rat-liver microsoma Jenzymes was studied. In the rat, ingestion of 20-24 mg caffeine/kg/day in the drinking water for more than 2 wk inhibited aminopyrine N-demethylase activity. This loss of activity approached 60 ~o at the end of an 8-wk dosing schedule. Acetanilide-hydroxylating activity of rat-liver microsomal enzyme was initially stimulated, with a peak (145 + 11 ~ of control) at 2 wk, and returned to normal levels at the end of 8 wk. Caffeine-treated rats did not respond to the phenobarbitone stimulation of microsomal enzymes to the same extent as did rats treated with phenobarbitone alone.

The Effect of Verapamil Administred before the Reperfusion Insult in Isolated Preconditioned Rat Heart on the Microsomal ATPase and Mitochondrial Enzyme Activities
Background: Calcium overload and free radical mediated damage in the mitochondria is the most important pathological changes associated with myocardial ischemic-reperfusion injury. The verapamil post-treatment has been previously reported to prevent reperfusion-induced myocardial injury but functional recovery may be delayed due to the drug's inherent direct myocardial depression effect. In the...

Objective: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the leading causes of death, illness, and economic loss in the world. The present study was attempted to evaluate extract of Foeniculum vulgare (fennel) on lipid profile, lipid peroxidation and activities of amino transferase enzymes in streptozocin induced diabetic adult male rats. Materials and Methods: The effects of daily oral administration of...

Effect of caffeine-coconut products interactions on induction of drug-metabolizing enzyme in Wistar albino rats was studied. Twenty rats were randomly divided into four groups: The control group (1) received via oral route a placebo (4.0 ml of distilled water). Groups 2 to 4 were treated for a 14-day period with 50 mg/kg body weight of caffeine, 50 mg/kg body weight of caffeine and 50 mg/kg bod...

Biotransformation of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in the presence of microsomal fractions derived from liver and epiderm of adult and weanling rats was examined. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of age on the capacity of two organs in transformation of BaP. Subcellular fractions were prepared from skin and liver by ultracentrifugation and were used as the source of BaP metabolizing enzy...

Introduction and purpose: Post-activation potentiation (PAP) is the phenomenon by which muscular performance is enhanced in response to a conditioning stimulus. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of PAP induced by resisted, accelerated and traditional plyometric with and without caffeine ingestion on competitive judokas performance. Materials and Methods: In a randomized, c...
